Announcing LanguageTool TextField 1.0.0

Solid Software has released LanguageToolTextField 1.0.0, a real-time spell and grammar check widget for Flutter.

Text accuracy is critical across both everyday applications (messaging, notes, email) and AI workflows, where prompt spelling directly affects generation quality.

The package integrates the open-source LanguageTool engine via its REST API, providing spelling, grammar, and style checking for over 30 languages as text is typed.

No API keys or registration are required: the widget connects to the public LanguageTool server by default. The free public API has fair-use limits (up to 20 requests per minute per IP, details). However, you can also use the paid version (LanguageTool Premium) or configure a self-hosted server.

Direct TextField Inheritance & Standard API

The LanguageToolTextField widget directly extends TextField from the Flutter SDK. All built-in properties are supported: undo/redo history, autofill hints, input formatters, event callbacks, and scroll physics.

Modular Architecture

• Request optimization: built-in debouncing and throttling to control network calls during active typing.
• Custom backends: exported core types to integrate self-hosted LanguageTool instances or local engines.

• Dynamic behavior: manual re-checking and automatic re-analysis when changing languages.

Theming & Interface

• Dark Mode: the correction popup adapts to the current ColorScheme.
• Flexible styling: distinct colors for each mistake type (spelling, grammar, typography, style) and style overrides for popup dialogs.

• Requirements: Flutter 3.27+.
• Supported platforms: Android, iOS, Web, macOS, Windows, Linux.
• Quality: the codebase is verified against solid_lints 1.0.0 rules.
